I was especially interested in the screening of the Black Swan, from Darren Aronofsky, the director, nay, auteur, responsible for such statements of our times as the Wrestler, Requiem For A Dream, and Pi.

It pleases me to report this newest picture is a nightmarish thriller of such artfulness as to recall the early work of artists like David Cronenberg, or perhaps Michael Powell at his most bittersweet. In what you can bet will be the first of many press stories about the film, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis are keen to discuss just how utterly un-sexy their on-screen smooch in the upcoming movie ‘Black Swan’ really is.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, [who is rumored to be set to direct the next Superman and the 'X-Men: Wolverine' sequel,] the film tells the story of a New York ballet dancer [Portman] whose place as the in-house prima donna is threatened by a new arrival [Kunis.]

“My character starts being paranoid that she’s going to be unseated,” Portman explained to reporters. “It’s a very extreme movie.”

And the girls got in shape for the job – Natalie spent 6-months training 6-8 hours a day, doing ballet, cross-training and swimming. Mila did cardio and Pilates exercises.

“I did ballet as a kid, like every other kid does,” Mila explains. “You wear a tutu and look cute and twirl. But this is different. You can’t fake it. Your whole body has to be structured differently.”The two rivals form a tenuous friendship, which leads to an even closer connection.

Their now infamous love scene was originally scheduled to shoot over a day and a half, but Darren, 41, cut it short after feeling guilty about what he was putting the actresses through.

And he tells CNN the two off-screen friends were so nervous they even shared some Tequila before the cameras rolled.

James McAvoy is currently in the "exploding" process. He’s been working for a while fairly under the radar, but since his work in Atonement we’ve barely been able to keep him out of the news. With three films
already on the books, McAvoy has now added a fourth.

In the latest subscription issue of Production Weekly it was announced that James McAvoy and Mila Kunis will star in an upcoming film called Taravella. We know you love both actors, but don’t get too excited. Taravella is described as “a romantic comedy with a supernatural twist” which already makes it sound too much like the Sarah Michelle Gellar piece Simply Irresistable for me to take it seriously. Quite a leap from Atonement, X-Men: First Class, or his upcoming Lincoln film The Conspirator.
Kunis is set to play the titular role while McAvoy plays Linus, the man whose life she literally falls into out of the sky. Don’t get me wrong, I have certainly seen some good rom-coms with a supernatural twist (Love Potion #9 anyone?) but it’s already a genre to be skeptical about without the supernatural part , so I always remain wary. FAMILY GUY’s eighth season is one of the shortest ones yet (with only fifteen episodes) but it’s also one of the funniest in awhile. I’m a Stewie fan through and through and though they went way overboard with his “ahem” sexual preference theme, he’s still my favourite (the “bitch” Stewie clone almost had me in tears). I’m still not a hundred percent sure how they entice Seth Green and Mila Kunis to stick around with so few lines but in Green’s case I suppose he’s not doing much else. The one thing that bothered me about this season was the abundance of shameless winks and nudges toward THE CLEVELAND SHOW which I refuse to watch on principle. Why in hell they took the least interesting character in the show and gave him his own series (other than the money and use of race jokes) is beyond me. I’d have been more interested in a Quagmire show, but that’s just me.

Rights to S. Craig Zahler’s highly sought screenplay, “The Brigands of Rattleborge,” went to producer Brad Fischer earlier today. The script was originally optioned by Warner Bros. but remained unproduced for years, making it onto the 2006 Black List - the industry’s list of the best unproduced screenplays. “‘Brigands’ is a riveting, emotionally-charged story of vengeance and retribution, and there’s simply nothing like it out there,” said Fischer. “Craig’s script has already garnered a great deal of attention from A-list filmmakers and actors and I’m looking forward to helping bring it to the screen along with my partners at Phoenix Pictures.”

Research conducted by the French Fashion Institute shows that these males, “aged between 15 and 29 spend as much on clothes as women of their age” and that “young French men fussed as much over appearances as women their age yet spent less time and energy picking and choosing clothes..” Great, so basically the French manage to be into how they look, but never have fashion freak-outs. Where did we go wrong?

n "The Book of Eli," now out on DVD, Denzel Washington beautifully inhabits the film's titular hero, a laconic, solitary gunslinger who's also custodian of a mysterious tome, carried in his backpack as he travels a burned-out landscape populated by cannibalistic "hijackers." Gary Oldman makes a great villain, tearing into the part of Carnegie, the corrupt, small-town boss who also wants Eli's book for his personal library. The film culminates in a battle worthy of Sam Peckinpah. Holed up in a farmhouse on the side of good are Eli, Solara (Mila Kunis) and a hapless old couple. That showdown between the righteous and the very, very wrong-teous is not, however, the end of the movie. There's a twist coming, worthy of O. Henry. It's more than a little satisfying and just about makes up for all the handsome, portentous nonsense that came before.

As one of three honorees at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, Brett Ratner choked up as he spoke about Chrysalis, an organization that helps the homeless by restoring their self-sufficiency. Revealing that his father had been homeless, the director of such films as "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Rush Hour" said that out of embarrassment for his situation, his father kept his distance from the family.

"If Chrysalis existed for my dad, maybe we could have had a life together," Ratner said. Was The Book of Eli Underrated?

Averaging a rotten 47 percent on RottenTomatoes.com, The Book of Eli is well away from the 60 percent needed for freshness. So, the question is, was The Book of Eli underrated? Did it deserve to get a higher score? We know it was entertaining to the masses, but the majority of the critics were less than impressed with Denzel Washington's foray into the postapocalyptic genre. Is it a better film than the critics made it out to be?Directed by the Hughes brothers, The Book of Eli is a stark portrayal of the world after nuclear war. Lands are barren, the sun cuts through the atmosphere like a razor blade, bleaching the landscape. The entire film has a sepia tone, which gives an even more dismal outlook on life during this time.

Technically, the visuals are stunning. Don Burgess' cinematography is awe-inspiring to look at in my opinion. Say what you will about the film, but it looks marvelous. Much of the artistic look of the film seemed to be overlooked during the onslaught of negative reviews. In terms of visual craftiness, The Book of Eli was definitely underrated.

HANS ROLLMANN - Last weekend I saw the Hughes brothers' recent film, "The Book of Eli," with Denzel Washington in the leading role as Eli and Gary Oldman as Carnegie, his sinister opponent and antagonist.

The strongest female characters are Mila Kunis as Solara, who attaches herself to Eli, and her blind mother Claudia, played by Jennifer Beals, who is abused by Carnegie. In a post-apocalyptic North America, a nuclear holocaust and subsequent winter have turned the Earth into a menacing, lifeless landscape.

Brutal force reigns supreme; water, food and the basic necessities of life and survival are precious commodities. In this world, somewhere between "Road Warrior" and "Deadwood," the traveller Eli arrives in a town controlled by a strongman, Carnegie, and his villains.

Carnegie, who is reading a book about Mussolini when he is first introduced, sends his motley crew of thugs to scour the countryside for a mysterious book which has so far eluded them. A book is also Eli's most prized possession, from which he reads daily, making this film "religious" despite its violent interludes.

Actress Mila Kunis has a macabre hobby - she likes to watch horror movies and then visit the sites of Hollywood's most grisly celebrity murders inthe dead of night.

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star has become a secret murder tour guide and regularly plans thrilling midnight trips to crime scenes and supposed haunted houses.

"It's really twisted and weird"

She explains, "We do murder mystery tours in L.A. One of my friends hasa whole giant book of famous murders that happened in L.A., everything from the Valley to Orange County to Malibu.

"When we do these murder nights, we watch movies, then we drive around at midnight, all around to these murder houses and take photos and we recreate the murder scenes. It's really twisted and weird."We went to the Black Dahlia house... We went by the Hillside Strangler's place and the Playboy model who was murdered by her ex-husband (Dorothy Stratten); that house looks exactly the same now as it does in the murder book... Mila Kunis has heaped praise on her mother for forcing her to work in a drugstore as a teen - even after she had landed her big break on That '70's show.

The actress has credited her parents, who immigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine when Kunis was a child, with helping her remain humble at the start of her career by encouraging her to work at a store near their California home.

"I worked at 70's on Laurel and Ventura and I couldn't drive because I wasn't sixteen yet, so my mother would come on her lunch break and pick me up from work."

Mila Kunis was one of the stars of “That 70’s Show” and umm… that’s about it. Oh but she is banging that kid from “Home Alone”, Macaulay Culkin, so she’s got that going for her.

Anyway apparently she did a photo shoot for GQ Magazine and here are the outtakes. Outtakes are pictures that the magazine has not had a chance to Photoshop large breasts on and airbrush every blemish and imperfection so the model looks like some sort of porcelain doll. So try not to puke all over your computer looking at these flawed pictures of Mila.Even though she has not been Photoshoped to perfection yet I have to say Mila Kunis is an attractive girl. Of course I am middle eastern so I really dig that dark look. My only complaint would be that she needs more hair on her body and face. It makes a woman look more distinguished.

Natalie Portman once famously spoofed her good-girl reputation with an R-rated gangsta rap on SNL. But with her racy new movie, she may be turning her image around for real.

Portman is starting to dish about her sex scene with co-star Mila Kunis (from That '70s Show and Forgetting Sarah Marshall) in the upcoming thriller Black Swan. The two ladies play rival ballet dancers in a deadly competition -- who somehow find themselves in a lover's tryst.

"It's not raunchy, it's extreme," Portman told vmagazine of the love scene.

"Extreme" could mean a lot of things, but it sounds like a new direction for Portman. The 28-year-old actress is known for taking provocative roles, while being shy about sex scenes. While shooting the 2004 film Closer, Portman filmed a full-on striptease for a scene with Clive Owen -- then regretted it, and convinced director Mike Nichols to cut the nudity from the scene (It's still pretty racy, to be fair).

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — About a dozen Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra musicians are going from the stage to the silver screen.

While the 50-plus member LPO is on summer hiatus, some of its musicians landed a gig of a different kind — collaborating with Hollywood composer George S. Clinton as he creates an original score to accompany the film "Extract," a comedy set for release in September.

As Clinton led the small orchestra this week in a New Orleans recording studio, the movie starring Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman and Mila Kunis played without sound on a large flat screen TV so editors could watch the scenes unfold as the orchestra played.

"This is so much fun," said Dave Anderson, the LPO's principal bassist, who was among the musicians asked to work on the project. "For us, it's a change of pace. It's definitely something different."
